Israel Railways is working on plans for a high-speed railway capable of reaching speeds of up to 250 km/h. Representatives from the company’s Strategic Operational Planning Unit recently visited Alstom in France to examine high-speed rail solutions as part of the project’s preparation phase.
During the visit, Israeli railway officials observed various aspects of high-speed rail operations, including traffic management systems, rolling stock configurations, and infrastructure requirements. The delegation reviewed Alstom’s TGV and Coradia trains and evaluated their potential relevance for the Israeli market.
The discussions also covered infrastructure planning, station coordination, and capacity management, focusing on integrating high-speed services into the existing network. The visit included an assessment of double-deck high-speed train options and energy-efficient technologies.
Israel Railways continues to evaluate the technical and logistical aspects of implementing high-speed rail within the country’s transport system.
